Under Armour Factory House is Expanding and Moving to New Location
Earlier this summer, Legends Outlets announced preliminary plans to transform the west end of the property into a new community space named “The Lawn.” As part of the west end development, Under Armour Factory House will expand and relocate from its current space at 1843 Village West Parkway, Suite C-109, to a newly renovated space at Legends Outlets.
The new location, adjacent to the west end development and next to The Lawn, will offer a larger space for Under Armour Factory House’s expansive selection of performance apparel, footwear and accessories for men, women and youth. The new store will offer guests more than 12,000 square feet of shopping compared to its previous location at 6,300 square feet and is slated to open in the fall of 2017.
Plan ahead and travel safely during solar eclipse
Kansas Department of Transportation News
On Aug. 21, a total solar eclipse will occur as the moon passes directly in front of the sun, darkening the sky. With increased traffic anticipated across the state as people travel to view the eclipse, the Kansas Department of Transportation, Kansas Turnpike Authority, and Kansas Highway Patrol advise travelers to plan ahead, be patient, avoid distractions, and practice safe driving habits.
Travelers across the state are encouraged to follow these tips to drive safely on the day of the eclipse:
- Allow plenty of travel time to reach a safe place for viewing, as roads may be congested due to increased traffic.
- Do not take photos or wear the eclipse sunglasses when driving.
- Do not pull over to the side of the highway to view the solar eclipse. Find a location off the highway and right-of-way to observe and/or take photos.
- If you are driving during the eclipse, turn on your headlights and do not rely on your automatic headlights.
- Expect the unexpected: watch out for other drivers and pedestrians.
- Plan ahead for fuel needs and always remember to keep your gas tank full during long trips.
It is also important to be prepared in case of emergencies and create a travel safety kit. Some items to consider for a travel kit may include:
- Non-perishable foods
- A first-aid kit and any prescription medications needed
- Motor oil
- Jumper cables
- Brake fluid
- Windshield washer fluid
- A map

Back-to-School Fashion for Students of All Ages
Summer is wrapping up and before we know it, kids will be back in school! If you’re feeling like you are running out of time to get everyone outfitted for the new year, don’t panic: Legends Outlets is a one-stop shop for back-to-school needs for every age!
While there are tons of cute options at Legends Outlets, we found the majority of Joey’s look at Crazy 8 – with easy outfits and great deals, this stop is a no-brainer for back-to-school shopping! Joey is rocking a vintage look in some straight-leg denim, a navy buffalo checkered button-down, as well as an ultra-hip cardigan – all pieces that can be layered to last through the fall! Highlighted with shoes and accessories that help show off his personality at school, we completed Joey’s look with some cool Converse leather all-star sneakers from Off Broadway Shoes, and a Marvel Comics backpack from Old Navy Outlet.
We managed to outfit Alex almost head-to-toe in Justice – a major brand score for girls her age! Skinny jeans are a staple this year, as well as lots of layers to complete the transitional season’s look. We topped her Justice jeans with a white t-shirt featuring crochet detailing around the neck, a pink ombre button-down, and an embellished army jacket. Her pink suede boots and sequin lunchbox complete her stylish ensemble!
Campbell is hanging on to summer with her mermaid color scheme and Sperry topsider loafers from Off Broadway Shoes. We topped off her skinny jeans with an aqua, blue, green and magenta print cotton top, both from Old Navy Outlet, along with a minty-aqua trench from Forever 21 | F21 Red. We also grabbed her a cheetah backpack at Old Navy Outlet to get into the print-mixing trend that’s happening right now.
For a teen, getting the laid back high school vibe is easy to do by mixing high-quality basics. We dressed Carson in cargo shorts, a white t-shirt, and a red buffalo checkered button-down from J. Crew Factory | Crewcuts – an outfit he can put on repeat all year long, replacing the shorts with denim and throwing on jackets, sweaters and hoodies as the Midwest winter starts to kick in. For now, he is showing his black athletic socks like the kind you can grab at Nike Factory or Under Armour Factory House with a pair of cool Ralph Lauren sneakers from Off Broadway Shoes. We found a super functional, Kenneth Cole backpack for him at Wilson’s Leather, which adds a nice touch and helps elevate his casual look.
Legends Outlets has perfect options to let Adrienne go from class to her internship and everything in between on campus this fall. We opted for a structured olive green utility skirt with a cinched waist, a classic striped t-shirt and a denim blazer, all from J. Crew Factory. A chunky tortoise shell necklace, also from J. Crew Factory, dressed up the look to perfection. We balanced the greens and blues in her outfit with a warm blush backpack from Forever 21 | F21 Red. Her perforated blush athletic slip-ons from Off Broadway Shoes keeps the look casual and helps her get where she needs to go on time!
Cavender’s is officially open in newly renovated retail space
Cavender’s Western Outfitter, one of the original retailers at Legends Outlets Kansas City, has officially relocated to a newly constructed, 16,650-square-foot retail space at 1867 Village West Parkway, Suite D-105. The new space, which sits across from Yard House and next to Charming Charlie, is larger than Cavender’s previous location and features a completely new interior with modern design elements.
A one-stop shop for gifts, accessories, home décor and quality western wear, Cavender’s offers the latest trends in apparel and accessories, including hats and boots, for men, women and children.
“The Lawn” is coming soon as part of new west end development plan
Legends Outlets Kansas City announced preliminary plans to transform the west end of the property into a new community space named “The Lawn.” Plans include the addition of park-like features and interactive elements including a jumbo outdoor LED screen placed on Legends Outlets’ iconic smokestack, facing south, and a smaller LED display facing east toward the property’s Civic Courtyard Fountain.
“Legends Outlets is a shopping destination built on experiences,” said Jennifer Wojcik, Legends Outlets’ general manager.” “The Lawn” will further enhance those experiences by providing shoppers, visitors and families with an engaging gathering space for leisure activities, picnics, screenings and events of all kinds,” Wojcik said.
The development plan also features exciting announcements and changes to some retail spaces, beginning with longtime retailer Cavender’s Western Outfitter. Cavender’s will relocate from its current location at Legends Outlets to a newly constructed, 16,330-square-foot retail space located next to Charming Charlie and facing “The Lawn.” Construction for Cavender’s new location is underway, which includes merging two existing retail spaces: Suites D-105 and D-107. Cavender’s is scheduled to open in its new location mid-July.
Legends Outlets is still working on the final design plans for “The Lawn” but plans to begin construction this summer. All stores will remain open throughout construction. The Legends team is working to coordinate all details of the project to ensure an exceptional experience for all shoppers while they work to enhance the property for the future.
Construction update as of August 2017
Construction and installation of the LED screens is on track for a debut this holiday season. Construction on The Lawn is now slated to begin in February 2018, contingent upon weather. The Lawn will debut in late spring of 2018, just in time for family gatherings, leisure activities, picnics and screenings.
Legendary Gift Ideas for Father’s Day
Great news: There’s still time to get your dad an awesome Father’s Day gift! And just because June 18 is almost here doesn’t mean you have to settle for anything less than thoughtful for the father figure in your life. That’s because Legends Outlets totally has you covered. Our team made a quick stop at various stores and picked up tons of stuff for all kinds of dads at all kinds of price points!
The first place we stopped was Books-A-Million, where we found a super diverse assortment of gift ideas. From the techy dad to the cool dad, this place legitimately has it all. On the top of our list was a pocket drone! Unmanned aircrafts are all the rage right now, and what better way to get outdoors with dad and learn something new together? The Pocket Drone is on sale right now for $180, too, so it’s a steal (normally priced at $200+). Another hot item for the tech dad is the Immerse Plus Virtual Reality Headset, which couples with his smartphone for an awesome VR experience.
For the cool, collector dad, definitely look into Books-A-Million’s excellent variety of hard and paperback books. Some titles we recommend include The One Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge by Tony Dungy and Nathan Whitaker, and Shoe Dog, a Memoir by the Creator of NIKE by Phil Knight.
We also loved its vinyl section, where we picked up Bruce Springsteen’s latest album, Chapter and Verse, which would make an awesome combo gift alongside his recently published autobiography, Born to Run – also available at Books-A-Million.
We also had a lot of fun shopping Books-A-Million’s novelty and gadget section, where we picked up a handy multi-use tool that includes a hammer and bottle opener, a BBQ apron, a stainless steel travel tumbler, and a sign that says “BEST DAD IN THE UNIVERSE!”
Next stop was Wilson’s Leather, where we picked up a couple high-end gifts for the traveling dad. More than just leather coats, Wilson’s had a ton of cool accessories and travel must-haves for the dad on the go! We scored a beautiful Kenneth Cole Reaction top zip travel kit, and a Wilson’s Leather passport cover. These two thoughtful items topped our list for the dad who seems to already have it all.
Also for the cool dad, you should of course consider stopping at Sunglass Hut. We grabbed two absolute staples – Rayban Wayfarers in black and top-selling Oakley sport shades.
For the sporty dad, definitely check out Sports Nutz. We were blown away by the selection – way more than just jerseys and hats (but those are awesome too)! We fell in love with double-walled stainless beverage glasses that feature dad’s favorite sporting team. To help him show his pride, we also grabbed a car flag, and a shiny chrome decal. Whatever side of the state line you’re from, Sports Nuts has you – and your dad – covered!
To go with the team spirit drinkware, we grabbed a galvanized bucket from Sports Nuts that would make a great base for a customized gift basket for dad. We filled ours with a variety of soda from KC Soda Co., now featuring an assortment of “DAD’s” brand craft sodas. (See what we did there?!)
Of course we had to stop at Eddie Bauer Outlet to shop for our outdoorsy dads! They told us their best selling dad’s gift this year is this amazing packable backpack we picked up in navy blue. They have a variety of colors and sizes but this lightweight travel staple inspired us to grab it and go! Other awesome ideas at Eddie Bauer include a nylon-lined fleece camping blanket with a soft and fuzzy layer that protects from the elements and also rolls up with a great traveling strap. We also scored a really popular Insulated Backpack Cooler – perfect for picnicking or packing snacks on a hike. We also loved their staple camping lantern – an affordable and thoughtful must-have for any dad who loves the great outdoors!
And last but not least, what kind of Father’s Day would it be without a fabulous tie!? We stopped at Brooks Brothers Factory Store to nab their St. Jude’s Striped Tie. If you’re looking for a gift for dad that gives back, definitely pick this stylish tie: Brooks Brothers donates $10 to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital with the purchase of every St. Jude’s tie and pocket square, now through June 18. Another great option for the dapper dad is a classic Brooks Brothers watch with a signature fabric watch band.
With more than 100 stores – and new stuff on sale every day – Legends Outlets really is your one-stop shop for all things Father’s Day!

2017’s “It” Color for Spring
Take a look around just about any department store and you’ll see there’s a definitive “it” color this spring: pink! And we aren’t talking about your grandmother’s pink either. Today’s hottest hue is as versatile as it is varying, from neutral blushes and subtle rose shades to signature pops of color like vibrant magenta and warm coral. Not only can anyone wear this season’s signature color, but the variety of options make it perfect for mixing and matching.
Aaliyah (pictured on the left) is wearing a coral romper from Banana Republic Factory Store – a perfect look that you can dress up or down with your accessories and shoe choices. We dressed her look up just a little by adding a mid-height floral wedge by Nine West that we picked up at Off Broadway Shoes. Both the ankle strap and floral accent are big shoe trends this season, too, and this particular style featured lots of fuchsia, coral and turquoise shades, which helped open up a ton of possibilities for mixing and matching the rest of her accessories. To do that, we stacked some rhinestone stretch bracelets we found at Charming Charlie in varying shades of aqua and magenta with gold-tone metallic bases. We tied in another big trend this season by layering her necklaces – a seafoam rhinestone collar-length strand and a long gold-tone tassel necklace we got from Banana Republic Factory Store. Aaliyah is also carrying a rich faux leather teal fold-over clutch with a tasseled zipper detail we found at Charming Charlie.
Betsy (pictured on the right) is showing how versatile the pink trend can be with a suiting option that would look just as good in any office as it would on a day trip. We found the cotton/linen “Schoolboy” blazer in pink at J. Crew Factory and knew it would be the perfect staple for the season. For Betsy’s look, we dressed the blazer down a little by layering it over a lightweight chambray button-down in a medium wash that we also picked up at J. Crew Factory. Another hot item for the season is the skinny white denim pant we scored at Gap Outlet – an affordable cornerstone that should be on everyone’s shopping list for spring and summer this year! For the tricky transitional period between seasons in the Midwest, we went for a neutral stone-colored, suede, open-toed bootie from Off Broadway Shoes; this one features perforated details which help lighten up the look for the upcoming warm weather. For a bit of sparkle, we snuck in a pink and iridescent rhinestone cocktail necklace from the Banana Republic Factory Store under Betsy’s otherwise casual denim top.
From the boardroom to the boardwalk, this spring’s signature color has what it takes to take your style everywhere you need to go. Show us how you’re styling your favorite shade of pink this season using #LegendaryStyle!
