Legends Outlets is welcoming another holiday season with its 14th Annual Legendary Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Centered around its 45-foot holiday tree, the ceremony will feature family-friendly entertainment including live holiday music, prize giveaways, kids activities, complimentary refreshments and photos with Santa, who will lead the tree lighting countdown and ignite a center-wide light display.

Date: Saturday, Nov. 17, 6-8 p.m. (center courtyard)
The Display: A 45-foot holiday tree returns this year as the Legends Outlets’ main centerpiece, located at the center of the Civic Courtyard Fountain in front of AMC Legends 14 Movie Theater. The tree is decorated with festive LED-lighted snowflakes and a three-foot-six-inch snowfall topper featuring a mix of static LED light bars and double-sided LED animated show tubes. During the ceremony, festive decorations will light up throughout the shopping center and continue through early January 2019.
Parker 3D, an international holiday design company based in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, is the producer of the holiday lighting show.
Emcees: This year’s official tree lighting ceremony emcees are 41 Action News anchors Mike Marusarz and Taylor Hemness. They will take center stage at 6 p.m. to kick off the ceremony, introduce the musicians and assist Santa Claus in leading the countdown to the tree lighting.
Elements
Kids Activities: 6 – 8 p.m.
- Guests and their friends and families can create special memories from the evening as they enjoy free, family-friendly activities including face painting, balloon artists and visiting with a balloon snowman character.
Hot Cocoa and S’mores: 6 – 8 p.m.
- Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory will be sweetening up your family’s night with complimentary hot cocoa and s’mores on a stick, available while supplies last just east of the center courtyard. Limit one serving per guest while supplies last.
Live Holiday Music: 6 – 8 p.m.
Leading up to the tree lighting countdown, local musicians from various bands will perform classic holiday music. Musicians include the following:
- Nick Nave, Red Guitar
- Heather Thornton, Heather Thornton Band
- Miguel Caraballo, Middle Theory Band
- Lansing Thunder Drum Ensemble
Giveaways: 6 – 8 p.m.
- Guests can visit Legends Outlets’ VIP tent in the center courtyard to register for the chance to win one of three grand prizes: a Michael Kors handbag and matching wallet set; a $300 Legends Outlets gift card; a Family Stay & Play Package including a one-night hotel stay at Residence Inn, four movie tickets to AMC Theaters Legends 14, a $20 gift certificate to Dave & Buster’s, a $25 Carter’s gift card, a $25 Buckle gift card, and a $25 Nike Factory gift card. Prize winners will be randomly selected and notified after the tree lighting at 8 p.m. Winners must claim their prize by 8:30 p.m. at the VIP tent.
- Legends Outlets will be giving away magic light glasses to guests on a first come, first serve basis at the VIP tent. Limit one pair of glasses per person while supplies last.
Photos with Santa: 6 – 7:30 p.m.
- Santa will be stationed just west of the center courtyard for fun, family photos until 7:30 p.m. Please note: Photo Party KC is tentatively scheduled to take free Santa photos, weather permitting. Guests who want a photo with Santa should plan to bring their own camera in the instance of inclement weather.
Donation Collection
YMCA Giving Tree: 6 – 8 p.m.
The YMCA will be stationed just east of the center courtyard with a tent set up to house a small giving tree. Guests can grab an ornament off the tree that lists household and holiday items to purchase for local families in need (toys, clothes, etc.). Guests can purchase and donate needed items to the YMCA tent during the tree lighting ceremony or drop off items to any Wyandotte County YMCA location during the holiday season. All giving tree items are readily available for purchase at Legends Outlets.
