Legends Outlets will host two days of events to celebrate the grand opening of The Lawn, a new community space at the west end of the center. The celebrations will take place Friday, Aug. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. With the exception of the ribbon cutting, all grand opening events are free to attend and open to the public.
Grand Opening Event Details
Ribbon Cutting: Friday, August 23, 9 a.m.
The Lawn Ribbon Cutting with city officials, Village West neighbors, Legends Outlets employees, etc. Private event. Closed to the public.
Young Professionals Night: Friday, Aug. 23, 4-7 p.m.
The grand opening weekend of The Lawn kicks off on Friday, Aug. 23, with a night for young professionals. Individuals and organizations from around Kansas City are invited to The Lawn for a night of networking and mingling, complete with music, giveaways, yard games, a beer garden, light bites from Yard House, and a Royals watch party. Additionally, the first 20 people to arrive will receive a Kansas City T-Bones ticket voucher, redeemable at the box office for one reserved seat ticket to any home game.
Friday highlights include:
- Entertainment by DJ Max James featuring a live musician collaboration
- A beer garden near Yard House
- Guests must be ages 21 or older to consume alcohol. The first 100 guests ages 21 or older who show a valid I.D. will receive one complimentary drink ticket.
- Light bites provided by Yard House.
- Giveaways
- Guests can enter to win various prizes throughout the evening at the Legends Outlets’ VIP tent.
Morning Workout on The Lawn: Saturday, Aug. 24, 10-11 a.m.
The grand opening weekend of The Lawn continues Saturday morning with a complimentary 50-minute workout class featuring Tony Temple of The Burn KC and Core Power Yoga in partnership with Nike. Guests should be prepared to sweat! The class will combine cardio and yoga moves choregraphed to music for a total-body workout designed to get heart rates pumping. The class is open to people of all ages and fitness levels while space allows. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Legends Outlets VIP tent, and all attendees must sign a waiver prior to starting the class. Guests are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat, towel and water.
Additionally, the first 25 participants to register at 9:30 a.m. and complete the class will receive a $25 Nike Factory gift card, a water bottle, and a small towel. Limit one per family while supplies last.
Family Fun Day: Saturday, Aug. 24, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Immediately following the morning workout session, the grand opening celebration at The Lawn will continue with fun for the whole family. Saturday activities and events include yard games, a petting zoo, face painting, prize giveaways, sips and snacks, mascot appearances, a Sporting KC autograph signing, and more. Additionally, Legends Outlets will announce the $500 gift card winner from its back-to-school BINGO campaign. BINGO cards are currently available to print online, here. To be eligible to win the $500 grand prize, BINGO cards must be completed and turned in by 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23.

- A Sporting KC player appearance and autograph signing featuring all-star defender Graham Zusi from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Limit one autographed item per person.
- The Sporting KC street team will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with prizes, ticket giveaways, soccer activities, and the Sporting KC bus.
- Mascot appearances including Blue from Sporting KC, Sizzle from the Kansas City T-Bones, and more.
