Re-opening plans include added safety & social distancing measures

With the state of Kansas on the path to recovery, Legends Outlets is working on plans to safely reopen the shopping center. The health and safety of its retailers, guests and employees remains to be the top priority, and the center will implement many new social distancing and community safety measures recommended by the Wyandotte County Health Department.

During the mandatory stay at home order, Legends Outlets remained focused on deep sanitization throughout the center. They introduced a hospital-grade touchless sanitation machine to increase cleanliness and productivity to common areas, restrooms and corridors. They also used this time to make updates and improvements around the center, such as:

• Sandblasting and repainting benches, stairwells, poles, and railings
• Power washing all trellises and awnings
• Enhancing landscaping
• Installing new LED lights in the parking garage
• Repairing concrete around the center

As expected, the shopping experience will be a bit different for guests the next time they visit. As Legends Outlets prepares to reopen the center to meet the needs of the community, they are taking the following steps to place health and safety above all else:

• Working with the security team to control access and flow of traffic through the center and to pinpoint high areas of concentration throughout the center and parking lots

• Encouraging social distancing throughout the center; using signage and decals to help customers practice social distancing

• Requiring retailers and restaurants to reconfigure their spaces to accommodate the 6-foot social distancing recommendations

• Restructuring common areas to safely provide comfort and enjoyment with proper social distancing

• Installing no-touch step and pulls on all restroom doors

• Closing levels two and three of the parking garages; closing the escalators and elevators

• Turning off drinking fountains

• Installing hand sanitizer stations throughout the center to ensure employees and guests have access as needed

• Providing masks and gloves for employees

• Offering free onsite temperature checks, disposable masks and sanitizer wipes for guests upon request

The center has also implemented an aggressive disinfecting regimen on top of its already rigorous cleaning schedule. Housekeeping and security partners have added additional hours and equipment for cleaning and sanitizing throughout the day as well as after-hours, with a focus on high-touch points and high-traffic surfaces.

Several stores at Legends Outlets will be re-opening as early as May 18. Some retailers will be operating under alternate hours or may be opening at a later date, and others are working on plans that will allow shoppers to place their order over the phone and pick up in-store. Legends Outlets will continue to update its website with details as those plans become finalized. Essential businesses including restaurants remain open for curbside pickup, carryout and delivery services only. Please click here, or contact individual restaurants for more information. Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

  • What are your shopping hours?

Legends Outlets will be open Monday – Sunday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM until further notice.

  • Are masks required at the Center?

Guests are welcome and encouraged to wear a mask, however it is not a requirement. Some retailers may require their customers to wear one while shopping in their store.

  • What is your Center doing to keep guests and employees safe?

Legends Outlets has implemented many new safety measures which include the addition of 20 hand sanitizer stations, posted social distancing reminders throughout the Center as well as enhanced cleaning practices and sanitation equipment.  For a full list of the steps we are taking for employee, merchant and guest safety, click here

  • Are all the stores open?

Some retailers are still in the process of getting their spaces ready and therefore may have a later opening date.  We will continue to update our website so shoppers can preview what stores are open so they can plan their trip accordingly. For the most current list, click here.

  • Is social distancing still required?

Yes. The Wyandotte County Health Department requires everyone to socially distance themselves by 6’ from anyone outside of their household.  Common area seating and sales floors have been rearranged to help accommodate this mandate.

  • What can I expect during my shopping experience?

Each experience may be a little different depending on what store you’re in.  For example: If there are many people out shopping, you might have to wait in line before entering a store. Many store associates will be wearing masks and/or gloves (for their safety and your own).  Dressing rooms may be temporarily closed and there could be restrictions on what merchandise you can try on.  Stores will also look a little different as many have adjusted layouts so your shopping experience is as safe and comfortable as possible.

  • Why are your elevators and escalators off?

To help us limit and maintain the number of common area touchpoints.

  • Are the gloves you provide employees with latex-free?

Yes! Legends Outlets’ staff and janitorial partners only use latex-free, FDA approved gloves.

  • Are wheelchairs and strollers still available for guest use?

These amenities, in addition to our water fountains and kiddie rides will not be available for the time being.

  • I have been stuck at home with my teenagers for far too long; can I drop them off to shop for a while?

As much as we sympathize with your need for some in-home social distancing, our Parental Escort Policy is in effect at all times to further help our efforts in providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for all.

  • Where can I find more information about Wyandotte County’s regulations?
